One of the cooler things about walking about this old plane was that the evening wind was blowing via the nacelles and windmilling the fan and its turbine- so there was the characteristic &quottink tink tink&quot sound of cold turbine pieces shifting in their hub as the engine rotated. Up to temperature, the disc and blades would expand and match tightly. I presume fans don’t make this noise, though typical compressor blades may well. Compressors get hot, fans do NOT get hot, the point getting a big volume of low stress and moderate speed flow.
